Swedish Flag Allium Duet

Blue and Yellow Blooms That Beat the Rest of the Garden to the Party

This duet pairs golden-yellow Allium moly with sky-blue Allium caeruleum for a blue-and-yellow show that opens in late spring, before most garden perennials get going. Both are compact at 12 to 18 inches tall, so they slot easily into borders, rock gardens, along walkways, or into patio containers.

Alliums are the low-maintenance workhorses of the bulb world. They pull in bees and other pollinators while their onion-family scent helps keep deer, rabbits, and other nibbling pests moving along, and they handle heavy clay soil that stops other bulbs cold.
